Measured result: Roof temperature halved, comfortable classrooms, no more air conditioning needed
The context
A school in La Rochelle, covered with 1,000 m² of dark bitumen membrane, without air conditioning: at the end of every school year, the classrooms under the roof became hard to bear. The PrimaTherm® system was applied in four layers, combined with solar panels on the roof.
The results
Roof surface temperature halved at the height of summer, comfort restored in the classrooms, and a building that no longer needs air conditioning. The durability of the coating is that of the system: SRI maintained after 4,000 h of accelerated QUV ageing — conventional service life of 20 years (French CEE sheet).
What this means for a local authority
A treatment that can be carried out during the school holidays, without lifting or structural work, eligible for local-authority funding schemes (the French Green Fund, Fonds Vert, subject to conditions), and a concrete response to heatwaves in June and September.
